American Rail Dispatching Center - Software as a Service - Computer Aided Dispatch
Continuing its longstanding support of RailAmerica’s American Rail Dispatch Center (ARDC) RailComm updated the functionality of its state-of-the-art Domain Operations Controller (DOC®) train control system, used by ARDC, to have the ability to dispatch based on Canadian Railroad Operating Rules(CROR) in addition to the the existing functionality to dispatch based upon General Code of Operating Rules (GCOR) and Northeast Operating Rules Advisory Committee (NORAC) which are widely used throughout the United States.
The Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system is accessed through RailComm’s Software as a Service (SaaS) delivery method. SaaS provides a “pay-as-you-go” model, eliminating capital equipment procurement constraints. Through this delivery, railroads can be remotely dispatched by RailAmerica wherever an Internet connection is available. This makes it possible to relocate dispatchers to alternative locations, if the need arises.
Since the DOC® control application resides on servers within the RailComm-managed data center in Rochester, N.Y., the requirement for local IT support at each railroad is greatly reduced.
