Transportation Technology Center (TTC) Modernization Project

AtkinsRéalis plays a crucial role in the modernization of the Transportation Technology Center (TTC), a premier facility dedicated to rail and ground transportation innovation. This project aims to expand the TTC's capabilities to support all DOT ground transportation modes, ensuring the center remains at the forefront of transportation safety and technology.

Our efforts include upgrading and rehabilitating the signaling and train control systems, including Positive Train Control (PTC) systems, to enhance safety and operational efficiency. We are also refurbishing the active grade crossing systems to ensure they meet modern safety standards.

The effort includes leading the reviews for more than 10 different PTCSPs covering Class I freight railroads and commuter railroads utilizing both Advanced Civil Speed Enforcement Systems (ACSES) as well as Interoperable Electronic Train Management Systems (I-ETMS).

One of the key initiatives in this project is the utilization of Digital Twin Technology. This advanced technology aids in the conceptual design of the facility’s next-generation grade crossing testbed, allowing for more accurate simulations and assessments. This initiative not only improves the design process but also enhances the safety and reliability of the grade crossing systems.

These comprehensive efforts support clients' research, development, testing, and training needs, ensuring the TTC remains a leading facility for transportation innovation and safety.
